Young Engineers Kailua-Kaneohe: Program Policies

Refund and Cancellation Policy

  • Non-Attendance: Refunds will not be issued for participant non-attendance at scheduled classes.
  • Late Cancellations: A $25 cancellation fee will be applied to any class or schedule modification made less than three (3) days prior to the program’s commencement.

Make-Up Classes and Transfer Policy

  • Make-up classes and program transfers are subject to availability within existing class capacities.

Program Cancellations

  • Insufficient Enrollment: Young Engineers Kailua-Kaneohe reserves the right to cancel any program due to insufficient enrollment. In such cases, a full refund will be issued, less the cost of any classes already completed.
  • Inclement Weather: Programs will be canceled in the event of inclement weather or bus cancellations. In these instances, the program typically will be extended by an additional session. Email notifications will be sent to enrolled participants prior to any such cancellation.

Dismissal Policy

  • Children will only be released to individuals explicitly listed on the ‘Authorized Pick -Up Info Form’ that will be sent out after we receive your payment.
  • All authorized pick-up persons must be at least sixteen (16) years of age.
  • Prior written notice is required if an individual not listed on the registration form will be picking up a child.
  • In emergency situations where authorized individuals are unavailable, the primary parent/guardian must contact Nina at 808-347-5277 to authorize an alternate adult pick-up, or provide a signed note of authorization to that individual.
  • Students authorized to walk home may do so only upon instruction from their head instructor.

Class Conduct Policy

  • Young Engineers Kailua-Kaneohe reserves the right to dismiss any child whose behavior becomes unmanageable, without refund of program fees. This action will be taken only after verbal and written warnings have been issued.
  • Intentional physical harm to any person or property is strictly prohibited during class sessions.
  • Young Engineers Kailua-Kaneohe is not responsible for damage or loss of personal property during class sessions.

Staff Qualifications

  • Young Engineers Kailua-Kaneohe instructors are selected for their expertise and ability to deliver engaging S.T.E.M.-based programs. They receive specialized training in various lesson themes and are qualified to address diverse learning needs, including those related to learning disabilities.
  • All instructors undergo thorough background checks.

Project Ownership

  • Due to the significant investment in LEGO supplies, students do not retain projects or individual pieces. Program-specific items may be offered to students throughout their participation.

Media Release and Participation Agreement

  • By enrolling, participants consent to Young Engineers Kailua-Kaneohe’s use of photographs of their child for company website and promotional materials without compensation. The child’s name and identity will not be disclosed.
